We’re a trusted part of the team. At ETOS, we’ve got an established track record supporting some of Australasia’s best-known businesses. Don’t just take our word for it, click on the logos below to find out why we’re part of their team.
Northern Inland Credit Union
Northern Inland Credit Union is a locally-owned and operated credit union with a 50 year history. NICU has four branches employing 50 staff, based in and around the city of Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia
On NICU’s behalf, ETOS carries out the processing of investment transactions in Austraclear, management of daily investment settlements and the provision of detailed reporting including Austraclear Portfolio Reports, Cashflow Reports and month end valuation and accrual report of open positions.
“The primary benefit gained by outsourcing our treasury function is to maintain a segregation of duties within the Finance Department. ETOS maintains staffing levels to cover two-level processing (Input and Authorisation) of trades within Austraclear. This substantially reduces our risk of internal fraud by strengthening controls, particularly in a department with a small team.
The ETOS team is knowledgeable, experienced and very quick to respond to any issues or queries. Their service levels are exceptional. ETOS has been flexible in preparing reports tailored to our specific requirements. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend ETOS to assist with back-end Treasury functions.”
Kathy Beavan, Chief Financial Officer
Prudential Investment Services
Prudential provides a full range of investment services to wholesale clients, specialising in investment policy and strategy advice, dealing and settlement services, and tailored month end reporting required by low risk institutional investors.
“We’ve built our reputation upon independence, reliability and accuracy and we require those attributes from our service providers. ETOS has been the perfect choice for us in a critical area of our business: Austraclear servicing and trade confirmation. The professionalism and depth of industry knowledge of the whole ETOS team provides us with the confidence that our clients are receiving the best settlement services available in the market.”
Erik Gates, Director, Prudential Investment Services Corp
Meridian Energy Limited
Meridian Energy Ltd is New Zealand’s largest electricity generator, providing around a third of the country with power from renewable sources. ETOS has been supporting Meridian’s treasury team providing middle and back office services for the past twenty years.
“ETOS is an established part of Meridian operations. We have a small in-house team that works efficiently with ETOS executing daily cash management activities, treasury transactions with the financial markets, settlements, electronic payments, and the provision of daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the Group Treasury team in agreed formats.
“Over the past 20 years the industry has seen a lot of change. ETOS has worked with us to keep ahead of our compliance commitments, underpinning treasury risk management with segregated services. This gives our in-house team more time for ‘big picture’ thinking, confident that the day-to-day detail is in good hands.”
Janine Crossley, Group Treasurer
The Warehouse Group
The Warehouse is an iconic New Zealand brand and a household name. The Warehouse Group comprises of a number of leading companies and online retailers with 242 retail stores, 13 online stores and over 12,000 employees. As such The Group is exposed to various financial risks including foreign currency, credit and liquidity risks both nationally and internationally.
“ETOS proved to be the ideal solution for us as they were already well respected in the market and could provide specialist treasury support. The ETOS model sees their staff working closely with The Warehouse team and integrating into our company’s systems framework and culture to provide seamless middle and back office services including:
Download of daily bank statements and reconciliation of treasury transactions; Compilation of daily cash position; Updating Oracle system with daily transactions; Preparing daily settlements in the electronic banking systems for authorisation; Preparing and issuing drawdown notices and tender documents; Updating and maintaining our treasury systems; Hedge accounting administration and documentation; Treasury policy compliance; and segregation of duties
With ETOS working in their city location and accessing the Warehouse’s environment, they are a safe pair of hands and provide us access to the necessary treasury experts to facilitate The Warehouse’s treasury commitments.”
Barry Moors, Group Accountant, The Warehouse Group Ltd
Auckland Council does not have the transaction volumes to justify a two-person treasury team. ETOS has supported Council since 2010, providing middle and back office treasury expertise and reducing key person risk.
“I don’t know why more people don’t give treasury back-office outsourcing a go. From a straight economic perspective, it stacks up. Using non-specialist staff to back up specialist roles has the potential to create major downstream issues that could have both financial and legal implications. Treasury middle and back office is a specialist area that is better handled by experts.
“There’s complete transparency through detailed reporting so we can see exactly what the ETOS team has done. If we have any queries, we just lift the phone. There’s comfort in knowing that the day-to-day back office function is well-managed, well controlled and audited annually, with all the appropriate controls and risks taken care of by ETOS. Their team is completely focused in these areas and they need to stay ahead of the game.
“This means that our in-house team can concentrate on the on-going compliance requirements of our regulators, banks, trustees and the NZX — which has been an increasing burden over the past five to ten years. We’ve found that treasury outsourcing consistently reduces risk and saves money.”
John Bishop, Auckland Council Group Treasurer
Southern Cross Healthcare
ETOS are treasury specialists…they have a level of expertise in day-to-day operations that we could not replicate in-house.
ETOS helped us to transition from Southern Cross to their team and from a paper-based system to the automated asset and liability management system. This created a more controlled environment, reducing opportunities for human error, improving segregation of duties and producing an automated stream of reporting. ETOS also handled the migration of over 250 investments from different custodians to be held under Southern Cross ownership in NZ Clear… they managed the whole process from start to finish seamlessly.
